The Offertory Collection at Easter is for the Clergy. Collection on Good Friday for the Holy Places. 

After much reflection this year it has been decided to have one celebration on Holy Thursday and the  Easter Vigil at Sacred Heart for both Parishes. There will be celebration of the Passion Liturgy on Good Fri day at both Churches. We hope that English Martyrs parishioners will be able to join Sacred Heart parish ioners for these important Holy Week Services.

GOOD FRIDAY WALK OF WITNESS  

Rugby Churches invite you to gather for this im portant act of witness. 

Rugby Baptist Church and St Andrew’s will be coordinat ing the Walk of Witness this Good Friday, 15th April.  It will begin with a short service outside Rugby Baptist  Church at 10am before walking informally along Regent  Street to St Andrew’s for brief prayers and hot cross  buns. Both services will take place outside, weather per mitting, and all are very warmly welcome.

They will liaise with the relevant authorities and  keep up to date with developments .There is more  information on the diocesan website .

Confirmation Preparation Programme continues  Thursday, 28th April in the Sacred Heart Parish Hall,  7—8 pm. Confirmation will be celebrated on  Sunday, 22nd May at 9.30 am Mass.  

First Holy Communion Preparation (second group)  There is a registration meeting for parents on  Thursday, 5th May 7—8pm in the day chapel.  It is very important that you attend this meeting.  The first session for children will be on Thursday,  12th May, 6-7pm  

First Holy Communion Mass for this second group  will be on Saturday, 16th July at 5pm

Work is going on to prepare the ten page diocesan report which will be published  and sent to the Bishops Conference who will produce a national report. We hope we will be able to look  together at some of the matters raised in the light of the situation in our parishes and the Diocesan Vi sion. Thanks again for your responses and cooperation .  

DEANERY CHANGES : as a result of the revision of the deanery structure in the diocese the Rugby part  of the Rugby Deanery (St Maries, Sacred Heart and English Martyrs ) will be joining Warwick Deanery to  form Rugby and Warwick Deanery. The Nuneaton area Parishes will be joining Coventry Deanery.  

CHORAL CONCERT ’Hail ,Gladdening Light ’ at English Martyrs Church on Sunday 13th March at 7.30pm. Given by our wonderful local Choir Sine Nomine who have sung in many Cathedrals and Churches  throughout the country to great acclaim. Free Admission but Retiring Collection for Myton Hospice.  Don’t miss the chance to hear some wonderful music and great singing from the Choir celebrating their  20th anniversary.

ENGLISH MARTYRS – St. Vincent de Paul Society  Appeal The SVP have been active within English  Martyrs Parish for almost sixty years; visiting the  sick and housebound, taking Holy Communion monthly. Now there are only three of  us supporting our parish SVP. Will you join us? These visits are much appreciated by the  housebound. Can you spare one hour a week? SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION FOR THOSE NOT IN  CATHOLIC SCHOOLS : First Holy Communion Prep aration for those whose classes were interrupted  by the first lockdown. The next session for Children  will be on Monday 14th March at 6pm. The families  have been informed. Later in the year we will be 

having another series of classes for those who need  to begin their preparation from the beginning. This  is for young people from Sacred Heart and English  Martyrs Parishes. 

Confirmation Preparation is beginning on  Thursday, 10th March in the Sacred Heart Parish  Hall, 7—8 pm. Confirmation will be celebrated on  Sunday, 22nd May at 9.30 am Mass.  Thanks to those running both preparation classes  for their time and commitment.

CAFOD is part of the Disaster Emergencies Appeal  for Ukraine. They will work through Caritas Ukraine  to provide support and help to the needy. You can  donate directly via the CAFOD website.

We have upgraded the broadband at Sacred Heart Church and have invested in a new camera and miles of cable and hope to be able to livestream very soon. Her son Dr Adrian writes: 

On her 99th birthday, Ma would like to pass on her thanks to Fr Gerry for his lovely card and mass intention, and to all those parishioner friends who have also sent beautiful cards and flowers. She is looking forward to the day when Covid restrictions are lifted, and she might be able to see you all again. She also says she can thoroughly recommend the Mediterranean diet (mainly pasta and red wine)!
