Entrance Antiphon: Hosanna to the Son of David.  Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, the King of Israel. Hosanna in the highest.  

The Commemoration of the Lord’s Entrance into Jerusalem.

Introduction and Blessing of Palms (to be distributed as you leave Mass). 

A Reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark 11:1-10. Blessings on him who comes in the name of the Lord. 

The Mass: First Reading; A reading from the prophet Isaiah 50:4-7. I did not cover my face against insult and spittle 

Response: Psalm 21. My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?   

Second Reading: The reading from the letter to St Paul to the Philippians 2:6-11. He humbled himself but God raised him high.

Gospel Acclamation: Praise to you, O Christ, king of eternal glory! Christ was humbler yet, even to accepting death, death on a cross. But God raised him high and gave him the name which is above all names. Praise to you, O Christ, king of eternal glory!

Gospel: The Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Mark. Shorter Version. Please pick up your palms as you leave Church.

Here is Mass for the Fifth Sunday of Lent from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bilton, Rugby.

Entrance Antiphon: Give me justice, O God, and plead my cause against a nation that is faithless. From the deceitful and cunning rescue me, for you, O God, are my strength.  

First Reading; A reading from the prophet Jeremiah 31:31-34. I will make a new covenant and never call their sin to mind.  

Response: Psalm 50. A pure heart create for me, O God.    

Second Reading: The reading from the letter to the Hebrews. He learnt to obey and became for all the source of eternal salvation.

Gospel Acclamation: Glory to you, O Christ, you are the Word of God! If a man serves me, says the Lord, he must follow me; wherever I am, my servant will be there too. Glory to you, O Christ, you are the Word of God!

Gospel: John 12:20-30. If a grain of wheat falls on the ground and dies, it yields a rich harvest.

First Reading; A reading from the second book of Chronicles 36:14-16, 19-21. The wrath and mercy of God are revealed in the exile and in the release of his people. 

Response: Psalm 136:  O let my tongue cleave to my mouth if I remember you not!    

Second Reading: The letter of St Paul to the Ephesians 2: 4-10. You who were dead through your sins have been saved through grace.

Gospel Acclamation: Glory and praise to you, O Christ! God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son; Everyone who believes in him has eternal life. Glory and praise to you, O Christ!

Gospel: John 3:14-21. God sent his Son so that through him the word might be saved.

Update: We have been wrestling with the technology to be able to livesteam from Sacred Heart. We have upgraded the broadband at Sacred Heart Church and have invested in a new camera and miles of cable and hope to be able to livestream very soon. Meantime there are recorded Masses available as usual. 

St Joseph’s Monks Kirby are now livestreaming their Masses on YouTube at St Joseph’s Catholic Church Monks Kirby.

HOLY WEEK AND EASTER SUNDAY:  There will be modified public celebration of the liturgies during this special time. More details soon.

Her son Dr Adrian writes: 

On her 99th birthday, Ma would like to pass on her thanks to Fr Gerry for his lovely card and mass intention, and to all those parishioner friends who have also sent beautiful cards and flowers. She is looking forward to the day when Covid restrictions are lifted, and she might be able to see you all again. She also says she can thoroughly recommend the Mediterranean diet (mainly pasta and red wine)!

Entrance Antiphon: When I prove my holiness among you, I will gather you from all the foreign lands; and I will our clean water upon you and cleanse you from all your impurities, and I will give you a new spirit, says the Lord.  

First Reading; A reading from the book of Exodus 20:1-3, 7-8, 12-17. The Law was given through Moses. 

Response: Psalm 18: You, Lord, have the message of eternal life.    

Second Reading: First letter of St Paul to Corinthians 1:22-25. Here we are preaching a crucified Christ, an obstacle to men, but to those who are called, the wisdom of God. 

Gospel Acclamation: Praise to you, O Christ, king of eternal glory! God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son; Everyone who believes in him has eternal life. Praise to you, O Christ, king of eternal glory!

Entrance Antiphon: When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will deliver him and give him glory , I will grant him length of days. 

First Reading; A reading from the book of Genesis 9:8-15. God’s covenant with Noah after he had saved him from the waters of the flood. 

Response: Psalm 24: Your ways, Lord are faithfulness and love for those who keep your covenant.    

Second Reading:  First Letter of St Peter 3:18-22. That water is a type of the baptism which saves you now.

Gospel Acclamation: Praise to you, O Christ, king of eternal glory. We do not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Praise to you, O Christ, king of eternal glory.

Gospel: Mark 1: 12-15. Jesus was tempted by Satan, and the angels looked after him.

CAFOD LENTEN APPEAL Walk for Water. Family Fast Day Friday 26th February. Abdella lives in a remote and mountainous part of Ethiopia. He walks 10 hours a day to find water for his family.
