SYNODALITY A CALL TO OUR PARISHES. Pope Francis has asked the whole  Church throughout the world to engage in a process of learning, listening and discerning  together to see how the Holy Spirit is directing us as we face the challenges of living our faith  in this (hopefully) Post Covid world. This is something new and quite unique in the life of the  Church. We also have our Diocesan Vision proposed by the Archbishop asking us to look at  four important themes: Evangelisation, Formation, Worship and Sacramental Life and  Charity and Social Outreach. We are planning to make a start by offering two invitations and opportunities to look at this together. I would ask English Martyrs to come together with  Sacred Heart so we can share this work together. You don’t need to attend both events.

On Thursday 2nd December at 2pm for half an hour there will be Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at Sacred Heart Church followed by an Introduction and initial meeting in the Parish Hall. This will be for an hour. There will be a similar programme on 9th December at 7pm also at Sacred Heart. I am grateful to Richard Potter for agreeing to be our Synodality Rep with the Diocese. It would be good if we could make a start on this important project before Christmas. It will continue in the new year. Please join us on this journey with your  presence and your prayer. We need to talk, listen and learn together. No amount of homilies  however wise or otherwise will achieve this.

SUNDAY MASS : Our Bishops have issued a new letter about this. They have not reimposed the Sunday obligation. They are asking people to review their current weekend arrangements shopping, pub, visiting etc and if they are not attending Mass at present to return unless there are factors that may hinder this. You can find the whole letter on the cbew  (catholic bishops of England and wales) website or the diocesan site.

Mass for the 30th Sunday of Ordinary Time, Year B

Here is Mass for the 30th Sunday of Ordinary Time from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bilton, Rugby.

First Reading: A reading from the prophet Jeremiah. I will comfort the blind and the lame as I lead them back

Response: Psalm 125 What marvels the Lord worked for us!  Indeed we were glad.

Second Reading: A reading from the letter to the Hebrews. You are a priest in the order of Melchizedek, and for ever.

Gospel Acclamation: Alleluia, alleluia! I am the light of the world, says the  Lord, anyone who follows me will have the light of life. Alleluia!

Gospel: A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark. Master let me see again.

Communion Antiphon: We will ring out our joy at your saving help and exult  in the name of God.

CAFOD PRAYER FOR COP26

Loving God,

We praise your name with all you have created. You are present in the whole  universe, and in the smallest of creatures. We acknowledge the responsibilities you  have placed upon us as stewards of your creation. May the Holy Spirit inspire all  political leaders at COP26 as they seek to embrace the changes needed to foster a  more sustainable society. Instil in them the courage and gentleness to implement  fairer solutions for the poorest and most vulnerable, and commit their nations to the care of Our Common Home.

We ask this through Our Lord Jesus Christ your Son. Amen.
