Tips

  • Ensure all electrical equipment is turned off at the plug not left on standby when not in use
  • Print double-sided rather than on single sheets of paper, if you need to print at all
  • Recycle printer cartridges – several charities including CAFOD will supply Freepost envelopes
  • If you buy bottled water, why not try tap water for a change or think about buying a water purifier – either way you’ll avoid a build up of waste plastic and probably save money.

Gardener’s note: The current edition of Ethical Consumer (web address above) offers product guides and ratings on garden centres/ peat-free compost and seeds.  Check it out online. Garden responsibly to benefit the environment, wildlife and producers.

Tip: If you don’t already consider making your own compost. Warwickshire County Council offers advice @ http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/composting.  The council has also teamed up with Get Composting to offer a range of reduced price compost bins http://www.wcc.getcomposting.com/
